According to a brand new study funded by the National Cancer Institute, dairy products, including cow’s milk, may be related to an increased risk for breast cancer. When Researchers analyzed the diets of 1,941 girls diagnosed with breast cancer, they found that those that consumed the most cheese (i.e. American, cheddar, and cream cheeses) had a 53 % increased risk. Those with ER- breast cancer (a designation of estrogen receptor status) drank the most milk and had a 58 % increased risk for breast cancer. The insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) and other growth hormones found in dairy maybe among the reasons for the increased cancer risk.
